HORSE ARTICLES ARCHIVE
______________________________
Each week we feature one really good recipe, the kind of recipe that people ask for. The type of food that people never leave on their plates. The food that is eaten by those fussy types.
We try to keep these recipes easy and fast, as horse owners are very busy people, but we still need to eat well and nutritiously.
If you have a recipe that fits our requirements send it to us, along with your information - we like to know who cooks that well! recipe@horsemansu.com
We Really Are What We Eat!!
It's important to me that the recipes listed here look after our bodies and keep us in good health. In my recipes, it's not what's in them but what's NOT in them. I try to limit white flour, sugar, wheat and gluten. I often take recipes and substitute those ingredients for healthier choices. Right now I am trying to make the perfect brownie, and I'm really close. It's been fun trying!
I'm no doctor, but my own experiences with health issues have given me a deeper understanding of how our bodies work. We put too much emphasis on our outsides, but it's our insides that will dictate our lives after 50. If you want to look and feel younger, look after the inside.
So here it is! I know lots of you were waiting patiently for this recipe. I created this Hollandaise sauce one day while housesitting. The ingredients used were all they had in the cupboards, so I started to create. The Hollandaise Gods were with me that day...
3 heaping tbsp of Miracle Whip (Kraft)
1 heaping tbsp of honey (I add more; sweet tooth)
1 tsp Keens Dry Mustard (yes, I often add more here too)
1 tsp Dill
- Enough milk to create a thinner consistency: tsp to tbsp
Mix everything together any way you want to, heat up until it's quite warm, then pour it over:
2 poached eggs on:
2 toasted English muffins with:
Steamed spinach or ham inbetween the muffin and eggs
I'm sure you'll find other things to pour it over but for now, I'm deeply invested in the breakfast idea.
Enjoy!
If you have a recipe that's really fabulous and takes about 1/2 hour or so, sent it in! Also, let us know who it came from so we can splash your name all around the site! (add horse details and photo's also if you like: we'll post it all).
